Alejandra

The demand for food assistance has risen by 9% in Los Angeles County this year. At the Food Bank, we are fully committed to meeting this growing need, and we have all hands on deck to ensure that free and nutritious food is provided to all our neighbors in need. One of those individuals is Alejandra, a parent who visits the food pantry at our trusted partner St. Agnes Parish. She shared her story with us

“In my home, there are eight people, but my family, it's just me and my son. Only three of us are employed, so I take food home for everyone to share. At times, for whatever reason—we don’t have a job or we get laid off—we have to take help where we can get it. And this food is a great help. We get chicken, milk, vegetables, eggs, canned food; it’s all a big help. Thankfully, my son eats everything; he loves vegetables. When they give us broccoli, he’s so happy. Thank you to those that donate food, time or money. Thank you so much!”

Alejandra is a testament to the difference we can make when we come together to address the pressing issue of hunger in our community. With the help of volunteers, donors and supporters, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and our network of agency partners are able to distribute between two and four million pounds of food weekly to families and individuals facing food insecurity across LA County.
